This year, the doctors and team banded together and spent time to develop a mission statement. Each person in the office contributed to this philosophy and we aspire to adhere to it’s principles. We take pride in our profession. It is our goal to provide to our patients, our friends and our families with the highest quality of dental care; to go above and beyond for all; treating our patients the way that we ourselves want to be treated-with understanding, integrity, comfort, compassion, and trust; adapting, growing, and evolving with our profession; creating a caring and respectful environment; educating not only our patients, but our community; helping to create a lifetime of smiles.

Meet Dr. Carolyn Zunich

Welcome to Dental Associates! I am Dr. Carolyn Zunich. I grew up in Ashley, ND and graduated from Ashley High School in 1997. I attended the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND where I graduated in 2001 with a BS in Biology. I received my DDS from the University of Minnesota in 2005.

I joined this practice particularly because of the long history of teamwork, honesty, and dedication to our community. I enjoy the growth of collaboration and value the diverse experiences and differences of all our doctors. Dentistry is a new and changing field. We love our new technology, but still believe that a patient’s health and well-being are paramount.

My husband, Ryan, teaches elementary school at Rossman Elementary School in Detroit Lakes and is a coach for the high school track and cross country teams. We live in Detroit Lakes with our daughter. We enjoy the many outdoor activities this area offers, and you can often find our family, along with our dog Nelson, near one of the many parks or trails.

Meet Dr. Heather Kivi

Hi there! I’m Dr. Heather Kivi. I grew up on a dairy farm in Ponsford, MN, where my parents still reside, and I graduated from Park Rapids Area High School in 1999. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2003 and I completed my dental training at Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, NE in 2007.

Dentistry has been going through some exciting changes and I’m happy to be a part of it. I joined the team at Dental Associates in 2008. I love the people I work with, am thrilled to be a part of a progressive community, and look forward to what is to come. I truly care about the dental health and overall well-being of my patients and welcome their smiles in my day.

My husband, Brian McDonald, works in the Becker County Attorney’s Office as an Assistant County Attorney. We live southwest of Detroit Lakes near Cormorant with our three children. They keep us busy! We all enjoy getting outside; running, biking, swimming, boating, skiing, and gardening. We love to spend time with family and friends on the lake and in the beautiful Minnesota outdoors!

Meet Dr. Tyler Derouin

Hello, I’m Dr. Tyler Derouin. I grew up in Hallock, a small town in northwest Minnesota. After graduating from Kittson Central High School in 2006, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Natural Science from Saint John’s University in 2010. I received my DDS from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in May 2014.

I am excited to join the Dental Associates team and to be part of a practice that has such a long history of serving the community of Detroit Lakes. The field of dentistry is always changing and advancing, and I embrace the opportunities to learn and change along with it so that I can offer care and services that improve the wellbeing of my patients.

I love everything about the great outdoors of northern Minnesota, especially getting out on the lakes fishing and also hunting. I am a sports enthusiast and an avid hockey fan.

Meet Dr. Lowell Wenberg

I’m Dr. Lowell Wenberg. In 1957, after two years in the US Army Dental Corps, I joined my father’s dental practice in Mt. Lake, MN. I practiced general dentistry there for 30 years. After selling my practice in 1987, I took a brief time off for travel and leisure before joining Dental Associates in 1990 where I remain to this day. I retired from chairside dental duties in 1999, but continue to provide full and partial denture construction as well as SAME DAY relines and repairs for the doctors of Dental Associates relying on my 55+ years of expertise in this area.

I enjoy our log home on North Melissa Dr. where I spend many hours tending our ponds and gardens.
